I suppose this all falls under narrow AI, which is just computers performing optimization mathematics repeatedly, really fast, with brute computing power in a way not viable for human computations.
I'm sure many more sophisticated individuals in this field would agree with you, but in general it is hard to explain to the public just what the distinction is. So any aspect of human activity we can now train a machine to do really well (task specific ML), we call it AI I guess for lack of a better and easier to understand term for the general public.
PS: I've personally visited the advanced tech lab of one of the biggest tech consulting firm in the world where they called their RPA demo AI so....
