I agree with you mostly. And I have to admit, after looking thru’ the response to my article from other platforms, I think I have expressed my idea rather badly.
What I was trying to say was that peer recognition really works a lot better than pure monetary incentives to create employee loyalty and happiness at work. Don’t get me wrong. I like to be paid well as much as the next person. And I hate being undervalued or exploited. But ultimately what will keep employees from jumping to the next higher paycheck just because the competitor is offering more, is the realization that at some point money will stop being a good substitute for being able to work in a happy environment that supports your personal development.
