As to the outcome of AI, that’s the multi-billion dollar question isn’t it?
Many years ago in the course of writing a book I read that the way the human brain’s neural network is designed, the number of possible connections exceed the total number of atoms in the known universe. I’m not sure if that scientific assertion still holds true, but my best educated bet is AI has at least 25-30 years to go before it can even approximate human abilities, especially in languages. NLP, as you know, is the toughest nut to crack in AI today. There is both the artistic and creative aspects to the human brain as well as the rationale and mathematical side. The latter might be within reach for general AI sooner but I think the former may be difficult to model unless there is a breakthrough beyond Deep Learning as well as quantum computing.
